Mark joins Tom Lucas on AM650 as the Voice of the Valley once again to talk about the big 2014 annual fishing derby last month at the Vetta River.

The derby saw an incredible turnout this year, with over 110 participants showing up to compete. It’s the perfect time to fish, with the heavy migration of Coho salmon cutting through the river.

By Sunday, Keith Hall was the winner with a 14′ 8″ lbs catch! We wanted to thank everyone who participated and we’re excited to see them next year!

Last year, the winner was Marvin Andrus who proudly brought in a 6 pound 8 ounces pink salmon

Another focus of the show was about affordability. Over 82% of visitors to Chilliwack originate from the Lower Mainland. A lot of people are selling their homes in Point Gray and starting a brand new chapter of life over in Chilliwack and Englewood Courtyard.
